“Are you ready?”
“Yes, we are ready, “said the students excitedly.
It was Friday morning. The students of SDIT Mentari Indonesia gathered in garden area. They were curious about the program that they never had before. We called it English Fun Blast. It was an event when we invited native speaker and challenged the students to be confident to speak English.
The event was divided into three sessions. It was started at 7.30 and finished at 11.00 a.m. Each session, there were four classes came to garden area. During the event, we had ice breaking, English games, singing and others activities that drove the students to speak. We also gave chance for the students to be Master of Ceremony. We had fun activities. Due to their first time meeting with foreigner, they felt nervous. At first, they were afraid of making mistake. However, Mr. Zack, our guest, always encouraged them to speak up. He was very patient facing the students with different characters and English ability. Then, slowly but sure, it became more interactive.
“I wish this program will come next year,” said one of the students.
“I wish we have plenty much time,” said one of the students. No wonder because they had only one hour in every session. Many students tried to practice in turn.
Not only the students, the teachers also participated in this event. Some teachers had opportunity to practice their English with Mr. Zack. They felt challenged in this special moment.
Indeed, learning language needs to be practiced. Language is to be spoken. After studying in the classroom with many aspects such as reading, vocabularies, grammar and other disciplines of linguistics, we need to refresh our hectic days of learning. Therefore, we invite native speaker to create different atmosphere of learning. Through this event, hopefully, the students will be motivated more in learning English. They gain their confidence and keep on learning. See you on our next program next year.
